Municipal Lien Certificates (MLC)
Requests for Municipal Lien Certificates should be made in writing (or fill out our form provided below) and sent to the Town of Palmer Tax Collector, 4417 Main Street, Palmer, MA 01609.
To request a Municipal Lien Certificate from the Town of Palmer, you must provide the following information with your request:
- Record name of the property owner
- Parcel identification (map/block)
- Property address
Please double check your deed to be sure parcel(s) is/are accounted.
You must also include with your request:
- A check made payable to the Town of Palmer in the amount of $50 per parcel. (Please be aware that many residences are made up of two or more contiguous parcels. If the property owner receives more than one tax bill for the residence, then more than one Municipal Lien Certificate may be required.)
- A stamped, self-addressed envelope
- Please be mindful that we do not have a UPS or FedEx drop box on site, therefore we cannot guarantee that your MLC will be picked up by them promptly.
By Massachusetts law, we have 10 business days from the time the request is received in this office to generate the Municipal Lien Certificate. Every attempt is made to shorten that turnaround time, but particularly during vacation and holiday times, or other busy times of the year, it may take the entire 10 days allowed by law to process your request. Please do not wait until the last minute to request your MLC.
