Message from the Fire Chief

Palmer Fire District No.1 – Palmer Fire/Rescue proudly protects 7,200 people living in an area of 15 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area with mixed commercial and industrial areas. Our department is a public department whose members are career and on a paid on call status. We have an ISO rating of 5.

The Palmer Fire Department has been serving the community since 1885. This department employs 17 On-Call Firefighters, 1 Photographer, 1 Fire & Life Safety Educator, 3 On-Call Lieutenants a Career Fire Chief, 2 Captains and 2 Firefighters with 2 shifts operating 7 days a week from 06:00 am to 16:00 pm.


Type of Government: Fire District

There are four fire districts and three fire stations within the Town of Palmer's boundaries. They are Palmer Fire District No.1, Three Rivers District No.2, Bondsville Fire District No.3, and Thorndike Fire District No.4. Thorndike is protected by the Palmer Station. Dispatch services are provided by the Palmer Police Department.
