Position Objectives:

The Town of Palmer is seeking qualified candidates for a Recreation Director.  The Recreation Director performs administrative, supervisory, and technical work related to maintaining a comprehensive community recreation program(s) and activities; and to promote and enhance recreational opportunities throughout the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In accordance with applicable Massachusetts General Laws and Town Ordinances, the Recreation Director shall administer, direct, plan, organize and supervise comprehensive recreational programs geared to all ages of Town residents including sports, arts and cultural activities.  

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, in recreation field preferred. Five years of Parks and Recreation experience, with at least three years in a supervisory role; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and community relations skills, with a history of innovation and collaborative team building, and strong management abilities.  CORI, valid driver’s license and CPR/AED Certification required.
