Thorndike Water District

   Meetings:

The Commissioners' monthly meeting is held at the Thorndike Fire & Water District office on the Third Tuesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. unless otherwise posted. The public is welcome to attend. All special meetings will be posted 48 hours in advance at Palmer Town Hall, Thorndike Post Office, and at the Thorndike Fire & Water District office. If meetings are videotaped, they will be broadcast on M-pact, Channel 15 on the Saturday following the meetings at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.  Meeting videotapes are also available with computer access at M-Pact.tv. Then, go to Videos Section and find Thorndike Fire and Water. Most meetings are available.

The Thorndike Fire & Water Finance Committee.  More members are needed.   All meetings are open to the public.  Meeting notices will be posted online as well as on the Town of Palmer website and at the Thorndike Post Office.

The hard copy of the annual 2022 Water Quality Report is available at the office.  There is also a digital file online for this year's report.  The second quarter bill also included a hard copy sent in the mail to all customers.

Thorndike Fire & Water District sources its water from Three Rivers, Palmer, and Bondsville Water Districts. Fire protection is provided by the Palmer Fire Department.

When employment opportunities  are available the postings will be at Thorndike Post Office, Palmer Town Hall, and Thorndike Fire & Water District office.

Monthly Meeting
April 18, 2023

Present:  Commissioners:  Helena Naglack, Ruth Curtin and Ralph Robak - Commissioners; Marybeth Simard – Treasurer and Clerk Maria Donato.  Sarah Menard, Peter Warakomski and Will Contois were present.

Meeting was called to order at 4:45 p.m.

                Water Superintendent’s Report:  Water Superintendent not present.

 

March meeting minutes reviewed.  Motion to accept March 2023 Helena motions to accept,  Ralph 2nd,

                               

Old Business:

  • Solar Panels Inquiries:  Ruth reached out to approximately 10 different companies and will revisited
  • Shut offs on the 28rd :  Notices will be left for Thorndike customers
  • Work order Status:  Ralph has been working with Superintendents newest team member and making progress on working on cleaning work orders
  • Solar Farms – North of Mt. Dumplin and Gates St.:  Intentions to bring to the attention of the Town of Palmer regarding credit for the district as both solar farms are in Thorndike District that is not being received by Thorndike Fire and Water.
  • Accounting Consultant, Sara Menard:  Sara gave presentation and made recommendations for budget changes.

New Business

  • Minimum usage charge:  Decision made not to change current minimum usage charge at this time, but  will be revisited as a possibility at a later time.
  • Finance Committee budget meeting following commissioner’s meeting (Public Welcome)
  • Annual meeting June 20, 2023 at 4:30pm, 2023-2024 Elections June 20, 2023 4:00 pm to 7:00pm., Monthly commissioner’s meeting June 20, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.
