The Town of Palmer is accepting applications for the position of full-time Emergency Telecommunications Dispatcher in the Palmer Police Department. This is a 40-hour per week position, covered by a union contract with a complete benefit package, including health care and county retirement.
The current position available consists of a 5-day on and 2-day off work schedule that will encompass nights, weekends and holidays with a split shift consisting of three (3) 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. shifts and two (2) 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. shifts. Successful applicants are also expected to work overtime to fill vacant shifts, when available. Starting salary for this position is $15.99 per hour with a $.50 per hour increase after the successful completion of a six-month probationary term.
Applicants will be required to pass one or more oral interviews, written & audio exams, a medical exam, background investigation, and other requirements set forth by the Town of Palmer.
Minimum qualifications necessary to apply are a high school diploma or GED and experience in the use of personal computers operating in a Microsoft Windows environment. Applicants familiar with IMC software and with previous dispatching experience and/or holding certifications in CJIS, Vesta Pallas E-911, APCO or other Basic Telecommunicator Courses, Suicide Prevention, CPR and First Responder will be given preference. We will consider other qualified applicants.
