2010 Seasonal Flu Clinics

The Palmer Board of Health with the support of Wing Memorial Hospital will conduct two seasonal influenza clinics for town residents.

The clinics will be held from 1-3 p.m. on the following dates:
  • Saturday, October 23 at Converse Middle School, 24 Converse St, Palmer;
  • Friday, October 29 at SS Peter & Paul Church Hall, 2267 Main St. Three Rivers. 
There is no fee for the vaccine.

The flu shot is recommended for people with asthma, breathing disorders and other serious medical conditions, caregivers and those working with the public.

Please bring your Medicare card for registration.

Flu Season Precautions:
  • During the flu season people should avoid hugging, kissing, shaking hands with anyone who has a fever, cold, sore throat, flu symptoms. 
  • CLEAN YOUR HANDS frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds or use a waterless hand sanitizer such as Purell or a store brand that has at least 60% alcohol in it. 
  • Avoid touching the T-Zone - nose, mouth, eyes and then touching surfaces used by others. 
  • Clean things like door handles, telephones, faucets and counter, desk surfaces with sanitizer wipes or cleaner frequently. 
  • DO NOT cough or sneeze without covering your mouth and nose with a tissue.
  • If you or a family member are sick with a flu-like illness and a measured fever of 100 or higher, stay home from work or school and avoid contact with others until your temperature is 98 or below for at least 24 hours with medication.
  • If you or family members are ill with a cold or flu-like illness avoid group activities, do not visit someone hospitalized, rest, drink plenty of fluids and CLEAN YOUR HANDS frequently. 
  • Children should not visit patients in hospitals especially during this season when upper respiratory infections are more common as they are more vulnerable to getting sick or infecting someone who is already sick because we are usually contagious before we show signs of illness.
