If you answered yes to all of the above questions, you may be eligible to participate in Palmer’s Housing Improvement Program. You should complete and submit a pre-application and allow the Community Development Department Staff to evaluate your eligibility.
If you answered no to any of the above questions you may not be eligible to participate in Palmer’s Housing Improvement Program. You should contact the office and discuss your particular situation.
Please keep in mind that the Department of Housing and Community Development requires the Town of Palmer to target all grant money to a specific geographic location, referred to as a target area. The program addresses pre-applications on a first come first served basis for those projects located within the current target area.
In order to receive additional funding for this program, the community must demonstrate a need for the program and must prove that residents will participate in the program. This is accomplished by citing the current waiting list in each grant application. If you home is not currently located in the target area, the best way to get your neighborhood declared as a target area is to complete a pre-application and get your project on the funding list. Keep in mind that the wait can be as little as 1 year to many years. If you have immediate needs, you should contact the Community Development Department to determine if you are eligible for other programs or have an emergency situation.
