Ruth Amador will be at the senior center from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. Ruth will be here on May 2nd, 9th,16th, 23rd & 30th. Please note on the 3rd Wednesday of each month Ruth is only here until 11:30 a.m. She is provided to us through Wing Memorial Hospital. She will be available for blood pressure checks, glucose checks and she will discuss any questions you may have in regard to your medications or other health concerns. You can bring in your own glucometer or blood pressure monitor and she will teach you how to use it correctly.
Senior Swim at the YMCA/Wilbraham
Every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 til 3:00 for $2.00 a visit payable to the Scantic Valley YMCA through a punch pass.
Hearing Aid Checks, Cleanings & Screenings
2nd Tuesday of the Month @ 11:00 - 12:00
From 11:00 - 12:00 Debbie Stroetzel, MA CCC-A, Audiologist at Wing Memorial Hospital, will be here at the senior center to check and clean your hearing aids and do hearing screenings or if you have any other requests. You must call the senior center to schedule an appointment. Ms. Stroetzel will be here every second Tuesday of the month at this time.
The Wing Audiology Dept. will be providing the senior center with low priced hearing aid batteries. These are zinc air batteries, all sizes available (#10, #13, #312 & #675). The cost will be only $2.50 for a 4 pack and will be available for purchase at the senior center beginning Thursday, April 12th.
Massage Therapy
Brenda Thibault, LMT will be here at the senior center on May 10th & 24th from 1:15 - 3:30 to do 10 minute chair massages for only $5.00. All ages welcome. Therapeutic Massage; On-site massage is a revolutionary way of offering the benefits of massage in public spaces. The recipient is seated and fully clothed. The session focuses on the upper body - head, neck, shoulders, back and arms. Massage is an age-old health practice which enhances general well-being in many ways. It helps relieve the common aches, pains, and stresses that are part of daily living, increase range of motion, reduce muscle tension, increase circulation and relaxation. Treat yourself!! You must call the senior center to schedule an appointment.
Footcare @ the Palmer Senior Center
By appt. only, starting at 8:30 a.m. Cost of footcare is $28. No diabetics. Patricia O'Brien, R.N. administers this clinic. Pedi-Care also has a home visit service for those who are homebound. Call Debre Mallouin at 245-6034 for the Palmer area for a home footcare appt.
