The Massachusetts Fuel Assistance Program helps residents living on fixed or low incomes by paying a portion of their heating bills from November 1st through April 30th. Eligibility guidelines for the 2011 - 2012 heating season are:

If you received fuel assistance last year, you will receive a recertification application in the mail. New applications can be filed at the senior center for 60+. You must call to schedule an appointment.

Medicare Open Enrollment is changing!!
New Dates: OCTOBER 15 – DECEMBER 7
The annual Medicare Open Enrollment (October 15-December 7) is the time to enroll in or CHANGE your Medicare coverage for next year. State-certified SHINE (Medicare) Counselors can help you understand your plan, as well as other options you may have. In September, if you are a member of a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan or a Medicare Advantage Plan, you will be getting information in the mail about changes to your current plan. Be sure to save this information and bring it, along with your prescription drug list and Medicare card, to your SHINE appointment.
Don’t be left out!! Choose your prescription drug and health insurance plan by Dec. 7, 2011, for January 1, 2012. Trained SHINE volunteers offer free, confidential counseling on all aspects of health insurance to anyone on Medicare. Call the senior center @ 283-2670 to schedule an appointment during open enrollment time.
Sewer Abatement Forms and Tax Exemption Forms for fiscal 2012 are now available at the senior center.
Prescription Advantage: Prescription Advantage is the state prescription drug assistance program for seniors and people with disabilities in Massachusetts. Prescription Advantage is now in continuous enrolllment. To find out more information you can call Prescription Advantage @ 1-800 243-4636 or on the internet at www.800ageinfo.com. You can also set up a Shine appointment at the senior center or speak to the outreach worker, Cindy Jasak.
MASS-SAVE: A free home energy analysis is available for all National Grid electric customers. A Mass-Save energy advisor will thoroughly examine your home and install up to $30.00 woth of energy and water-saving materials. You will receive a report detailing the energy-saving recommendations identified by the energy advisor. Call 1-800-632-8300.
