2008 Cookie Walk on Friday, December 19th & Saturday, December 20th
Again this year, The Friends of the Palmer Senior Center will be conducting their second annual "Cookie Walk." Anyone who is interested in baking cookies should deliver them to the center by 4pm on Thursday, December 18th. Following the Christmas party on December 19th until 3pm, we will be selling cookies in two different containers for $5.00 or $3.00. You may choose your favorites by "walking" through the wide variety that will be available. On Saturday, December 19th from 10:00 a.m. until 2 p.m. the "Cookie Walk" will be open to the public and will feature an opportunity to visit with Santa Claus. He will be here for picture taking with the children. Please bring your own camera. All proceeds will be used to add to the upcoming renovations and provide the center with needed items that are outside of the
budgeted funds available.
Memory Journal Workshop
This workshop will last 8 weeks and will start on Thursday, January 22nd, 2009 from 10:30 until 12:00 noon and will continue every Thursday until March 12th. The workshop will be led by Turley Publications Editor and COA Board member Debbi Strauss. During this wokshop you will be guided into putting your personal memories in book form. There are no requirements for this workshop. Just show up and bring your memories with you. There is a nominal fee of $10.00 to cover some of the material cost. There is a minimun of 5 people and a maximum of 10, so sign up early to reserve your spot! Call and register at the senior center.
Haircut Service
The senior center is now providing hair cutting services to the seniors of Palmer. On Thursday, December 11th, Sara Girard will be here from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Sara will be here the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month unless otherwise noted. You can walk in or call to make an appointment with Sara at 267-3201. Cost per haircut is only $7.00. Sara will cut men's hair as well.
Wii
On Tuesdays from 12:30 - 3:00, the Wii System will be open to anyone who wants to come in and play. On Wednesdays at 1:00, we will be having Wii with Betty. Betty will be upstairs to show you how to play and will help those who need help. There are many advantages to playing with the Wii system including physical activity and mental activity. If you have never played Wii please come down and learn. It is very simple and a LOT OF FUN!!! You can play many different sport games including bowling, tennis, golf, etc.
Meals On Wheels Birthday Bags
We are going to be putting together birthday bags for our home delivered meals clients. We are looking for donations to put into these bags. We are looking for small pack tissues, bar soap, sugar-free candy, small pads of paper, and other small attractive gifts. If you would like to donate to these wonderful bags for those who are homebound, please drop items off at the senior center.
